Josh Inglis to Miss Part of IPL 2026 Season for Wedding
Josh Inglis' Wedding Conflicts with IPL Schedule
Adelaide [Australia], December 18: Australian wicketkeeper-batter Josh Inglis, recently acquired by the Lucknow Super Giants for ₹8.6 crore during the IPL 2026 mini-auction, has announced that he will be unavailable for part of the upcoming season due to his wedding scheduled for early April. The IPL is set to take place from March 26 to May 31, according to reports from a sports news outlet.
Inglis expressed his surprise at being selected in the auction, as he anticipated limited availability because of his wedding plans. Initially, he went unsold, only to discover later that he had been picked after waking up to messages from friends.
“I was watching the IPL auction and realized I was lower on the priority list. With my wedding in early April, I didn’t expect to be chosen. When I saw my name go unsold, I thought, ‘Alright, I’m going to bed,’ as I needed to prepare for the Ashes. It was only after waking up that I learned I had been bought,” Inglis shared with ABC Sport.
Despite his previous coach at Punjab Kings, Ricky Ponting, suggesting that Inglis would have limited availability, a bidding war ensued during the auction, leading to his signing by Lucknow Super Giants. This move reunites him with Justin Langer, with whom he previously collaborated at the Perth Scorchers in the Big Bash League.
Inglis made a notable impression in his debut IPL season with Punjab Kings, scoring 278 runs in 11 innings, averaging 30.88 with a strike rate of 162.57. His standout performance included a match-winning 73 runs off 42 balls against the Mumbai Indians, led by Jasprit Bumrah, in Jaipur. Overall, Inglis has accumulated 3,853 runs across 152 T20 innings, maintaining an average of 29.86 and a strike rate just under 150.
