IPL 2023 : Mayank Agarwal Hails Aiden Markram's Appointment as SRH Skipper with Machine-Like Efficiency

Markram was handed the captaincy mantle for SRH for the IPL 2023 season.

In the upcoming edition of the Indian Premier League, Sunrisers Hyderabad will usher in a new era under the leadership of South Africa's newly appointed T20I skipper Aden Markram. In February, Markram was selected to lead the team as captain. SRH's success this year will depend on Markram and senior pro Mayank Agarwal.

They will be expected to work together if they are to replicate their performance from the 2016 edition and win the coveted trophy for a second time. After spending some time in the camp with all the players ahead of the 16th edition of the IPL, Agarwal opened up about his relationship with the team skipper and his plans ahead.

The Karnataka batsman praised Markram while addressing SRH's YouTube handle, as he said:

“He's a great guy. Apart from being a great cricketer, he is a great person. So that tells you a lot about it. I call it a machine, and that's for a reason. Someone who works really hard on his game, who really thinks a lot about his game, and who is a really great person, and who has a very happy and relaxed atmosphere around him."

I'm really looking forward to playing under him: Agarwal
The SRH management has made plenty of tactical changes over the years, and as a result, Markram became the third captain that the team has seen in three years. The Hyderabad franchise has often struggled with an unbalanced squad, erratic volatility, odd team selection and a tendency to falter in close matches.

“I am really looking forward to playing under him because we had a bond when we played for Punjab. I am really looking forward to building on that when we play for SRH now,” Mayank added. However, fans will expect a successful SRH IPL 2023 season given the recent outings of Aden Markram as captain. In February 2023, Markram led Hyderabad's SA20 team Sunrisers to the Eastern Cape title in the inaugural edition of the tournament. His exploits as a batsman and his leadership skills helped him earn a leadership role in his national side. SRH have managed to field a strong unit and Markram will aim to give his best, just like he did in the SA20.
