Exciting Developments for the Indian Football League

The 2026-27 season of the Indian Football League (IFL) is scheduled to commence on October 30, featuring new locations in Nagaland, as announced by the All India Football Federation (AIFF).

During a recent meeting held at the Football House in New Delhi, the IFL Governing Council convened with representatives from all 11 participating clubs. They reviewed the previous season, noting that viewership and broadcast performance had significantly improved, with numbers soaring to four times those of the 2024-25 season.

The Governing Council confirmed the start date for the upcoming season and introduced a new regulation allowing a maximum of three foreign players on the field at any given time during matches.

Additionally, the inclusion of Nagaland and Odisha as new venues marks an exciting expansion for the league across India.

Discussions also covered the IFL Charter for the new season, along with budget proposals and sponsorship opportunities.

M Satyanarayan, the AIFF Deputy Secretary General, expressed satisfaction with the meeting, stating, “We are pleased to confirm the new dates for the IFL season. Despite last season being shortened, it generated significant interest, and we are eager for a complete home-and-away format this time. The addition of new teams and venues will undoubtedly enhance the excitement surrounding the IFL.”

In preparation for the upcoming season, IFL club representatives and M Satyanarayan met with Prasar Bharati CEO Gaurav Dwivedi to discuss broadcast partnerships, aiming for another successful collaboration.
