Gujarat Titans' Batting Coach Calls for Team Cohesion

Following their second consecutive defeat in the Indian Premier League, Matthew Hayden, the batting coach for Gujarat Titans, emphasizes the need for a unified effort from the team's batters. The Titans struggled to chase down a target of 211 runs against Rajasthan Royals during their home match on Saturday night, despite a promising start at 107 for one in the 11th over.

The opening partnership between Sai Sudharsan, who scored 73 runs off 44 balls, and Kumar Kushagra, who contributed 18 runs off 14 balls, set a solid foundation. However, a series of wickets in the middle overs saw the team falter to 161 for seven.

Hayden remarked on a crucial decision made by Washington Sundar regarding whether to attack Ravi Bishnoi, who was performing well at that moment. He noted that this choice could be revisited to enhance the team's cohesiveness in run chases, highlighting that the initial 12 overs had gone relatively well.

The run-out of Shahrukh Khan, following Washington's dismissal, proved to be another significant setback for the Titans. Hayden expressed interest in reviewing the execution of that run, as it appeared that Ravindra Jadeja had managed to deflect the ball away from him, complicating the situation.

He pointed out that losing two wickets in quick succession could have changed the game's outcome, especially in a high-stakes T20 match where every run counts. As the Titans aim for their first victory of the season, they will face the unbeaten Delhi Capitals in an away match on Wednesday.
