Chandigarh [India] - Gujarat Titans' assistant coach, Parthiv Patel, has expressed admiration for Jason Holder, the West Indies all-rounder, highlighting his significant contributions during the current IPL season. Patel noted that the franchise had specifically aimed to acquire Holder during the auction due to his versatile skills and extensive experience in T20 formats.

Acquired for Rs 7 crore in the last auction, Holder has proven his worth in critical moments this season. Across nine matches, he has accumulated 58 runs and claimed 15 wickets, boasting an impressive average of 16.46 and an economy rate of 7.63, which includes a standout four-wicket performance.

During a pre-match press conference ahead of the IPL 2026 Qualifier 2 against Rajasthan Royals, Patel emphasized that Holder was always envisioned as a key player for the team. He stated, “Prior to last year's IPL auction, we had already identified Jason Holder as a primary target. His form over the past year and a half in T20 leagues globally has been commendable. His experience is crucial for our team dynamics, especially with a player capable of bowling in both powerplay and middle overs while also contributing with the bat. This decision has positively influenced our performance, and we are thrilled with Holder's contributions.”

Patel also expressed confidence in star leg-spinner Rashid Khan, affirming the franchise's unwavering faith in his abilities despite facing challenges this season due to injury recovery. In the ongoing IPL, Rashid has taken 19 wickets in 15 matches, averaging 23.47 with an economy rate of 8.77, including one four-wicket haul.

“Rashid is a world-class bowler who requires no introduction. Although he has faced difficulties this season due to injury, he has shown remarkable recovery and has been performing exceptionally well. He is dedicated and continues to train hard,” Patel remarked.

He further added that Rashid's eagerness to excel in high-pressure situations makes him an invaluable asset to the team. “We recognize his talent and his desire to contribute. He thrives in challenging scenarios, which is why he has been performing well. There is no doubt about Rashid's skill level, and we fully trust him, which is why he has remained with the Gujarat Titans since the beginning,” Patel concluded.

In the meantime, Rajasthan Royals secured a convincing 47-run victory over Sunrisers Hyderabad in the Eliminator, advancing to the second qualifier where they will compete against Gujarat Titans for a chance to reach the IPL 2026 final, where the defending champions, Royal Challengers Bengaluru, await.
