Gujarat Titans Secure a Convincing Win

In a thrilling IPL 2026 match held at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, Gujarat Titans (GT) triumphed over Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) by a staggering 82 runs on Sunday. After a disciplined bowling performance that limited GT to 168 runs for 5 wickets, SRH faced a disastrous batting collapse, getting bowled out for a mere 86 runs in just 14.5 overs.

This victory propelled Gujarat to the top of the points table with 16 points, while SRH remained in third place with 14 points. Notably, SRH's total of 86 is now the second-lowest all-out score against GT, following the 82 runs scored by Lucknow Super Giants in Pune in 2022.

The 82-run margin also marks GT's largest victory by runs in IPL history, surpassing their previous record of 77 runs against Rajasthan Royals earlier this season. Furthermore, this match highlighted SRH's lowest all-out total in IPL history and marked the first time since 2024 that they failed to chase a target below 200 runs.

Gujarat's seamers showcased their prowess, achieving nine wickets in an innings for the second time, with the first instance occurring against SRH in Hyderabad in 2023. Overall, this victory marked Gujarat's sixth win over SRH in their last seven encounters, including four wins in Ahmedabad.

In the chase for 169 runs, SRH's innings began poorly, losing Travis Head for a duck on the first ball bowled by Mohammed Siraj. Kagiso Rabada quickly followed up by dismissing Abhishek Sharma for just six runs, leaving SRH in a precarious position.

The situation worsened as wicketkeeper Ishan Kishan fell for 17 runs, leaving SRH at 29 for 3 after just four overs. Rabada continued to wreak havoc, claiming his third wicket by dismissing Smaran Ravichandran for nine runs, leaving SRH struggling at 34 for 4 at the end of the powerplay.

Despite a brief partnership between Salil Arora and Heinrich Klaasen, which took SRH to 54 for 4, the innings fell apart as Prasidh Krishna dismissed Arora for 16 runs. Jason Holder then struck twice in quick succession, further crippling SRH's chances.

Holder's impressive performance continued as he took his third wicket, leaving SRH at 60 for 7. Prasidh Krishna and Rashid Khan wrapped up the innings, bowling SRH out for 86 runs. Gujarat's bowling attack was led by Rabada (3/28) and Holder (3/20), with Prasidh Krishna contributing with 2/23.

Earlier, Gujarat Titans had a rocky start, losing their captain Shubman Gill for just five runs, followed by Jos Buttler for seven runs. However, Sai Sudharsan's 61 runs and Washington Sundar's contributions helped GT reach a competitive total of 168 runs for 5 wickets, thanks to disciplined bowling from SRH's Sakib Hussain, Praful Hinge, and Pat Cummins.
