Finn Allen's Explosive Century Leads KKR to Victory Over DC in IPL 2026
KKR Triumphs with Allen's Unbeaten Century
New Delhi [India], May 8: In a thrilling encounter at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, Finn Allen's remarkable 100 not out off just 47 balls propelled Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) to an emphatic eight-wicket victory against Delhi Capitals (DC) during their IPL 2026 clash on Friday.
Chasing a target of 143 runs, KKR benefited from Allen's explosive batting, which included 10 sixes and five fours, alongside Cameron Green's steady contribution of 33 runs off 27 deliveries. The team successfully reached the target with eight wickets in hand and 34 balls to spare.
Openers Ajinkya Rahane (13) and Allen provided a brisk start, putting up 29 runs before Rahane was run out by Mitchell Starc on the last ball of the third over.
Captain Axar Patel quickly dismissed Angkrish Raghuvanshi, leaving KKR at 32/2 in the fourth over. However, Allen's aggressive batting soon turned the tide in KKR's favor.
Once he settled in, Allen showcased his attacking prowess, targeting both the spinners and pace bowlers with equal ferocity. He reached his half-century in just 32 balls, hitting a six off Starc in the 11th over, with KKR at 86/2 at that point.
In the 12th over, Allen hit three consecutive sixes off Nigam and followed it up with two more sixes in the next over bowled by Kuldeep Yadav, bringing him closer to a century.
With only three runs needed for victory, Green took a single to allow Allen to face the next delivery. Allen, on 94*, launched a massive six to complete his maiden IPL century and secure KKR's win.
On the bowling front for DC, Axar Patel (1/27 in 4 overs) and Lungi Ngidi (0/7 in 2 overs) were the standout performers.
This victory marked KKR's fourth consecutive win in the IPL season, placing them seventh on the points table with four wins out of ten matches.
Earlier in the match, DC batted first, with openers KL Rahul and Pathum Nissanka starting strong against KKR's spinners. They scored freely, reaching 49 runs before KL Rahul was dismissed for 23 runs off 14 balls.
DC crossed the 50-run mark in just over five overs, ending the powerplay at 55/1, with Nissanka (31*) and Nitish Rana (1*) at the crease.
Nissanka continued to score aggressively, hitting Green for a six and a four, but the Australian all-rounder struck back by dismissing Rana for eight runs.
As the spinners took control, Narine dismissed Sameer Rizvi, reducing DC to 80/3 in the tenth over.
In the 11th over, Anukul Roy took two crucial wickets, including Nissanka, who had just reached his fifty, leaving DC in a precarious position at 89/5.
DC struggled to score in the middle overs, managing only 18 runs between the 11th and 15th overs, with Nissanka being the only one to hit a boundary.
They finally reached the 100-run mark in the 16th over, with Ashutosh Sharma hitting a six to break a 38-ball boundary drought.
Vaibhav Arora ended Axar's innings with a catch, and Ashutosh's aggressive batting helped DC reach 142 runs, with Lungi Ngidi and Vipraj Nigam remaining not out.
Kartik Tyagi (2/25 in 4 overs) and Anukul Roy (2/31 in 4 overs) were the standout bowlers for KKR, effectively stifling DC's scoring opportunities.
