In a thrilling IPL 2026 match held at the Sawai ManSingh Stadium in Jaipur, Delhi Capitals (DC) achieved a commanding seven-wicket victory against Rajasthan Royals (RR) on Friday night. This match was particularly notable for opener KL Rahul, who reached a significant milestone during the game.

Rahul became the first Indian opener to hit 200 sixes in IPL history during this high-scoring match. The right-handed batsman scored a stylish half-century, hitting five sixes and six fours to mark this achievement.

Over the course of 112 matches as an opener, Rahul has accumulated 4,851 runs with an impressive average of 50.01 and a strike rate of 141.38. His record includes six centuries and 39 fifties, along with 433 boundaries and 203 sixes throughout his IPL career.

He is now the third opener in IPL history to reach this milestone, joining the ranks of former players David Warner and Chris Gayle. Gayle holds the record with 326 sixes, while Warner has hit 210 sixes as an opener in the league.

A strong opening partnership of 110 runs between KL Rahul (75 off 40) and Pathum Nissanka (62 off 33) set the stage for a successful chase of 226 runs, which was completed by Tristan Stubbs (18*) and Ashutosh Sharma (25*) with five balls remaining.

Earlier in the match, Riyan Parag showcased his skills with a remarkable 90 runs off 50 balls, marking his first fifty-plus score of the season. Donovan Ferreira also contributed significantly with an unbeaten 47 runs off just 14 balls, helping RR post a total of 225/6 after choosing to bat first.

Parag played a crucial role in stabilizing the innings alongside Dhruv Jurel (42) after early wickets fell, while Mitchell Starc (3/40) made impactful strikes, including the wicket of the RR captain, upon his return.

This victory represents DC's highest successful run chase in IPL history, concluding the match with five balls to spare. With this win, DC has secured its fourth victory of the season, placing them sixth in the points table, while RR remains in fourth place with six wins out of ten matches.

This chase is also the second-highest successful chase against RR, following the 229 runs chased by SRH at the same venue earlier this season.
