Delhi Capitals' Batting Stars Lead IPL Averages
In the Indian Premier League (IPL), Delhi Capitals (DC) standout players David Miller and KL Rahul are at the forefront, boasting the highest batting averages while chasing among 231 players who have batted at least ten times in IPL chases.
Miller has accumulated 1,816 runs over 67 innings, achieving an impressive average of 49.08 and a strike rate of 142.54, which includes 12 half-centuries and one century. These batting giants form the core of DC's lineup in IPL 2026. However, despite Rahul's remarkable 92 runs and a commendable performance from Miller, DC faced a heartbreaking defeat against Gujarat Titans (GT) by just one run in their opening match at Arun Jaitley Stadium on Wednesday.
DC chose to bowl first, and significant contributions from GT's captain Shubman Gill (70 runs off 45 balls, including four boundaries and five sixes), Washington Sundar (55 runs off 32 balls, with six fours and two sixes), and Jos Buttler (52 runs off 27 balls, featuring three fours and five sixes) propelled GT to a total of 210/4.
Rahul's explosive 92 runs off 52 balls, decorated with 11 fours and four sixes, along with Pathum Nissanka's 41 runs off 24 balls (six fours and one six) and Miller's unbeaten 41 runs off 20 balls (three fours and three sixes), brought DC close to victory.
In a thrilling finish, the Titans narrowly defeated the Delhi Capitals by just one run. With two runs needed off the last ball, Miller missed a delivery from Prasidh Krishna, and a stunning direct hit from GT's wicket-keeper Jos Buttler resulted in Kuldeep Yadav being run out while attempting a risky single, sealing a dramatic win for GT.
After this match, DC is positioned fourth in the standings with two wins and one loss, while GT sits in sixth place with one win and two losses.
