Chennai (Tamil Nadu) [India] - On April 25, the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) announced that pacer Khaleel Ahmed has successfully undergone surgery following a quadricep injury sustained during the IPL 2026 season.


Khaleel injured his right quadricep while playing against the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at Chepauk Stadium on April 16.


In a post on X, CSK confirmed the successful surgery of Khaleel, expressing their wishes for his strength and swift recovery.


Due to the injury, Khaleel has been ruled out for the remainder of IPL 2026, with the franchise noting that recovery will take over 12 weeks.


CSK's official announcement stated, “Khaleel Ahmed has been ruled out of IPL 2026 after sustaining a right quadricep injury in the game against KKR. Wishing Khaleel a speedy recovery. #WhistlePodu.”


In the five matches played this season, Khaleel has taken only two wickets, averaging 73.00 with an economy rate of 8.67, and his best figures being 1/24.


Last season, he had a more impressive performance, claiming 15 wickets in 14 matches with an average of 29.80, best figures of 3/29, and an economy rate of 9.57.


Throughout his IPL career, which includes stints with Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), Delhi Capitals (DC), and CSK, Khaleel has amassed 91 wickets at an average of 27.18, with his best figures being 3/21 and an economy rate of 8.95.
