CSK Secures Victory Against MI

Chennai (Tamil Nadu) [India] - On May 3, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) captain Ruturaj Gaikwad expressed his delight following the team's eight-wicket victory against Mumbai Indians (MI) in their IPL 2026 encounter. He commended the efforts of pacer Anshul Kamboj and batter Kartik Sharma for their significant contributions.

CSK successfully chased down a target of 160 runs, after MI set a score of 159/7, bolstered by Naman Dhir's 57 runs and a quick 37 from Ryan Rickelton. The bowling attack of CSK, led by Anshul Kamboj with three wickets and Noor Ahmad with two, effectively restricted MI, particularly during the death overs.

In response, CSK faced an early setback with Sanju Samson dismissed by Jasprit Bumrah. However, Urvil Patel's quick 24 runs, along with an unbeaten partnership of 98 runs between Ruturaj Gaikwad (67*) and Kartik Sharma (54*), ensured a comfortable win with 11 balls to spare. This victory elevated CSK to sixth place in the standings, accumulating eight points from eight matches.

Ruturaj Gaikwad was awarded the Player of the Match for his impressive innings of 67 runs.

Post-match, Gaikwad expressed his satisfaction with the win, praising Anshul Kamboj for his straightforward approach and strategic mindset akin to that of a batter. He also noted Noor Ahmad's significant improvements through key adjustments. Gaikwad mentioned his confidence in his form, stating that he just needed time to translate it into T20 success. He highlighted Kartik Sharma's performance as a major confidence booster, recognizing his capability to hit sixes while also playing intelligently.

“It feels good. Kamboj is keeping it simple, adhering to the process, and thinking like a batter. Noor has made some adjustments and is progressing well. It feels great to finish the game. I’ve always felt confident, but in T20 cricket, it’s just a matter of time,” Gaikwad remarked during the post-match presentation.

“Regarding Kartik Sharma, it’s a significant confidence boost for both him and the team. He can hit sixes, but he also has the ability to choose the right deliveries,” he added.
