Celebrating Cricket Legends: A Night of Reunion Amid WCL Season 3
A Memorable Gathering of Cricket Icons
Dubai [UAE], October 10: Sumant Behl, the owner of India Champions, hosted a vibrant celebration on Friday night during the ongoing World Championship of Legends (WCL) Season 3, reuniting several members from India's World Cup-winning squads.
The event featured a nostalgic gathering of players from India's victorious 2011 ODI World Cup team, including notable figures like Yuvraj Singh, Harbhajan Singh, Yusuf Pathan, and Piyush Chawla, all coming together for this special occasion.
Also in attendance was Irfan Pathan, a key player from India's first T20 World Cup-winning team in 2007, adding to the star-studded lineup at the party.
This reunion highlighted the camaraderie among former Indian cricketers who played pivotal roles in the nation's significant achievements on the world stage, coinciding with the ongoing WCL Season 3.
India's journey in the inaugural 2007 T20 World Cup was marked by an unexpected underdog story, led by captain MS Dhoni. The team secured memorable victories, including a bowl-out against Pakistan, impressive wins in the Super 8, a thrilling semi-final against Australia, and a nail-biting five-run victory over Pakistan in the final. Key players from that championship included Irfan Pathan, Yusuf Pathan, Yuvraj Singh, Harbhajan Singh, and Robin Uthappa.
Similarly, India's 2011 World Cup campaign was a testament to resilience, featuring iconic performances that culminated in MS Dhoni's legendary six, sealing the title on home soil. Yuvraj Singh, Harbhajan Singh, Yusuf Pathan, and Piyush Chawla were instrumental in that triumph.
In the current WCL Season 3, India Champions kicked off their campaign with a commanding 46-run victory over Australia Champions in Sharjah. However, they faced a setback with a 21-run loss against England Champions.
Next, the Indian team is set to face the defending champions and current table leaders, South Africa, led by AB de Villiers, who is in exceptional form after scoring 70 runs off 39 balls against West Indies Champions and an unbeaten 111 against Australia Champions.
