Cameron Green's Stellar Performance Leads KKR to 180 Against GT in IPL 2026
Cameron Green Shines in IPL 2026 Match
In Ahmedabad, Gujarat, on April 17, Cameron Green delivered an impressive performance, scoring his first half-century of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026, helping the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) set a target of 180 runs against the Gujarat Titans (GT).
Green's innings of 79 runs off 55 balls marked his second-best score in the IPL, following his unbeaten 100 against Sunrisers Hyderabad while playing for Mumbai Indians in 2023.
The KKR innings began with Tim Seifert and Ajinkya Rahane as openers. However, Rahane was dismissed for a golden duck by Mohammed Siraj in the very first over, leading to the introduction of young Angkrish Raghuvanshi.
Raghuvanshi started with two boundaries but fell to Kagiso Rabada after scoring just 8 runs, bringing Cameron Green to the crease alongside Seifert.
Seifert, making his IPL 2026 debut, contributed a quick 19 runs before Rabada sent him back, allowing Rovman Powell to join Green.
During the power-play, GT's bowlers restricted KKR to a mere 37 runs for 3 wickets. Powell broke the shackles in the 7th over with a massive six off Prasidh Krishna, followed by another six and a four off Ashok Sharma, lifting KKR to 59-3 after 8 overs.
Green and Powell maintained a steady scoring rate, reaching 80 runs after 10 overs despite a rocky start. However, Ashok Sharma dismissed Powell for 27, bringing Anukul Roy to the crease.
Green showcased his attacking prowess in the 12th over, hitting Rashid Khan for a six and a four, and continued his assault on Sharma, hitting two more sixes to complete his half-century.
In the 15th over, KKR lost Roy for 9 runs, and Rinku Singh joined Green for the final overs. Unfortunately, Singh's struggles continued as he was dismissed for just 1 run by Rabada.
Ramandeep Singh entered the game and quickly made an impact with a six and two fours off Sharma before being dismissed for 17 runs.
In the 18th over, Siraj claimed his second wicket, sending Sunil Narine back for a duck, and Kartik Tyagi came in, hitting a six off Siraj's last delivery.
Ultimately, Gujarat Titans managed to restrict KKR to 180 runs, conceding only 15 runs in the last three overs. Cameron Green emerged as the top scorer for KKR with his 79 runs.
Kagiso Rabada was the standout bowler for GT, taking three wickets, while Ashok Sharma and Mohammed Siraj each claimed two wickets. Prasidh Krishna and Rashid Khan also contributed with one wicket each.
