KKR's Resurgence in IPL

All-rounder Cameron Green emphasized that the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) maintained their confidence despite a rocky start to the IPL season. He noted that the team's recent success stems from finally achieving the right balance and combinations.

After struggling near the bottom of the points table for much of the 2026 season, KKR has rejuvenated their playoff aspirations with four straight victories, including a commanding eight-wicket win against Delhi Capitals on Friday.

“I believe our confidence never wavered,” Green shared with the media.

“Our team culture has been strong throughout the tournament. Even during our losing streak, the atmosphere remained positive.”

In their latest match, KKR's bowlers limited DC to a modest total of 142 for 8, while Finn Allen led the charge with a stunning unbeaten century, scoring 100 runs off just 47 deliveries.

“We’ve worked hard to turn things around, and our bowlers have been outstanding. Today was another exceptional performance,” he remarked.

Green acknowledged that it took time for KKR to finalize their optimal team structure and batting order.

“We were just figuring out the best combinations and batting positions to maximize our strengths,” he explained.

“It took us a few games to sort that out, but we’ve found a great rhythm now.”

Earlier in the season, the Australian all-rounder faced scrutiny after not receiving clearance from Cricket Australia to bowl.

“The coaching staff has been incredibly supportive from the start, never making me feel pressured compared to my teammates,” he said.

“There’s always a level of pressure on international players since there are only four of us in the squad. You need to perform consistently because there are others ready to step in. Thankfully, I’ve never felt that pressure, thanks to the support staff.”

Although Green has resumed bowling, he has yet to complete his full quota of four overs in a match, but he clarified that this is not due to fitness issues.

“I’m fully prepared to bowl four overs. With our team composition, Anukul (Roy) has been exceptional, allowing me to bowl fewer overs. This flexibility has been beneficial,” he stated.

“Having a left-arm all-rounder like Anukul gives us options, allowing me to bowl during the powerplay or at the death.”

Green, who took the crucial wicket of KL Rahul and scored an unbeaten 33, had a front-row seat to witness Allen's explosive performance, which included 10 sixes.

“I wasn’t surprised by his performance tonight. Finn was outstanding. He consistently gets off to great starts, which is why we brought him into the team. He’s among the best at applying pressure,” Green noted.

“Once he reaches 30 or 40 runs, he becomes very difficult to dismiss because he keeps attacking.”

KKR's next challenge is against Royal Challengers Bengaluru in Raipur on May 13.
