Anshul Kamboj Sets Unfortunate IPL Record with 34 Sixes Conceded
Anshul Kamboj's Record-Breaking Struggles in IPL 2026
Ahmedabad (Gujarat) [India] - On May 21, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) bowler Anshul Kamboj faced a challenging moment in the 2026 Indian Premier League (IPL) season, as he set a new record for the most sixes conceded by a bowler in a single edition, allowing 34 sixes to be hit off his bowling.
This unfortunate achievement surpassed the previous record of 33 sixes, held by Rashid Khan during the 2025 season. Kamboj's record-breaking performance occurred during a match against the Gujarat Titans (GT) in Ahmedabad.
In the 2025 IPL, Rashid Khan, renowned as the leading wicket-taker in T20 cricket, had a tough outing, giving away 33 sixes. Kamboj initially showed promise in the 2026 season for CSK, but his recent performances have significantly declined, leading to costly overs for his team.
In a recent match against the Lucknow Super Giants, Kamboj had a particularly rough day, as he was hit for eight sixes, marking the highest number conceded by a bowler in a single IPL match.
His struggles were highlighted when he was struck for four consecutive sixes on two occasions during the innings, showcasing the difficulties he faced on the field.
In the match, a remarkable partnership between captain Shubman Gill and Sai Sudharsan, along with a solid half-century from Jos Buttler, propelled the Gujarat Titans to a formidable total of 229/4 in 20 overs against the Chennai Super Kings at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
To keep their playoff aspirations alive, CSK must chase down a target of 230 runs.
