IPL 2026: Sooryavanshi Aims for Six-Hitting Record

The 15-year-old sensation from Rajasthan Royals, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, is just six sixes shy of breaking Abhishek Sharma's record for the most sixes by an Indian player in a single Indian Premier League (IPL) season. Sooryavanshi has the opportunity to set this remarkable record during his team's upcoming match against Delhi Capitals in Jaipur.

In the current IPL 2026 season, he has played nine matches, accumulating 400 runs with an impressive average of 44.44 and a strike rate of 238.09. His performance includes a century and two half-centuries, with a top score of 103. He has also smashed 34 fours and 37 sixes so far.

Young Star Approaching Another Milestone

Sooryavanshi is on the brink of achieving yet another incredible milestone. At just 15 years old, he has already hit 99 sixes in only 27 innings, marking the highest number of sixes by a player in T20s before reaching the age of 20, according to ESPNCricinfo. If he hits one more six, he will set a record that may stand the test of time: a century of sixes before turning 20.

Since his debut in the IPL last year, Sooryavanshi has scored 652 runs in 16 innings, maintaining an average of 40.75 and a strike rate of 224.82, which includes two centuries and three sixes.
