Vaibhav Suryavanshi Shines in IPL 2026

Mumbai: The IPL 2026 season has concluded, and Indian cricket icon Sunil Gavaskar has once again lauded the tournament's standout player, Vaibhav Suryavanshi. The former captain expressed that his fondest memory from this year's IPL will undoubtedly be Suryavanshi's remarkable ability to hit sixes. Despite the Rajasthan Royals exiting in the qualifiers, Suryavanshi emerged as the most talked-about player of IPL 2026, delivering a performance that set new records.

Reflecting on Suryavanshi's achievements, Gavaskar remarked, 'The player I will always remember from this season is Suryavanshi. His batting was phenomenal, with 72 sixes and 500 runs scored during the powerplay alone. For a 15-year-old, this is an incredible feat. It indicates a promising future for Indian cricket.' What made Suryavanshi's performance particularly impressive was his fearless approach against some of the fastest bowlers in the world. In a conversation with Gavaskar after the season, Suryavanshi shared that tales of Gavaskar's own batting prowess inspired him. He recounted how his father would tell him stories of Gavaskar facing fierce West Indian bowlers without a helmet, which instilled in him the confidence to tackle fast bowling.

Suryavanshi's philosophy was straightforward: if Gavaskar could face such challenges in the past without modern safety gear, then today's players, equipped with advanced protective equipment, should confidently confront pace bowlers.
