IPL 2026: Schedule Changes for CSK vs GT Matches Amid Elections
IPL 2026 Fixture Adjustments Announced
New Delhi: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has revealed that the IPL 2026 match dates for the Gujarat Titans (GT) and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) have been altered due to upcoming municipal elections in Ahmedabad and various other areas in Gujarat, scheduled for April 26.
In addition to Ahmedabad, elections will also occur in cities such as Surat, Vadodara, Rajkot, Bhavnagar, Jamnagar, Karamsad-Anand, Gandhidham, Nadiad, Navsari, Porbandar, Mehsana, Morbi, Vapi, and Surendranagar. The vote counting is set for April 28.
As per the updated schedule shared by BCCI Secretary Devajit Saikia, the afternoon match between GT and CSK, initially planned for the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on April 26, will now take place at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on the same date.
The match will maintain its original start time of 3:30 PM IST. Consequently, the return match, which was originally slated for the evening in Chennai on May 21, will now be held in Ahmedabad, starting at 7:30 PM IST.
Currently, the remainder of the IPL 2026 schedule remains intact as the league approaches a critical mid-season juncture. CSK, the five-time champions led by Ruturaj Gaikwad, will face the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in Chennai on Tuesday evening, following their recent 23-run victory over the Delhi Capitals (DC).
GT, under the captaincy of India's Test and ODI leader Shubman Gill, has accumulated four points from four matches, placing them fifth in the standings. The IPL 2022 champions will next compete against KKR in Ahmedabad on Friday.
