IPL 2025 Playoffs: Sai Sudharsan Leads Orange Cap Race
IPL 2025 Approaches Final Stages
The IPL 2025 is nearing its conclusion, with three teams already securing their spots in the playoffs. Meanwhile, the competition for the Orange Cap has intensified. Before the tournament resumed, five players were in contention for the prestigious award. Currently, only two players remain, both of whom have made significant strides in their quest for the cap, having crossed the 600-run mark in the season.
Sai Sudharsan's Orange Cap Status
Gujarat Titans have advanced to the playoffs after defeating Delhi Capitals. They not only sit at the top of the table but also boast the top two run-scorers of the season. Sai Sudharsan has amassed a total of 617 runs in 12 matches, including one century and five fifties, and currently holds the Orange Cap.
Shubman Gill's Challenge
The only player who can potentially snatch the Orange Cap from Sudharsan is his own captain, Shubman Gill. He is just 16 runs shy of Sudharsan, having scored 601 runs at an impressive average of 60.10 across 12 matches. Yashasvi Jaiswal ranks third, trailing Gill by 78 runs, making Gill the primary contender to take the cap from Sudharsan.
Gujarat Titans' Dominance
Since the start of IPL 2025, Gujarat Titans have performed like champions. Gill and Sudharsan are the two highest run-scorers in the tournament, collectively contributing 1,218 runs for Gujarat, including one century and 11 half-centuries.
