Injuries Hit Indian Squad Hard

Birmingham: The Indian cricket team is facing significant challenges as young fast bowler Harshit Rana and experienced spinner Varun Chakravarthy have been sidelined due to hamstring injuries. In their absence, Prince Yadav and Ravi Bishnoi have been called up as replacements for the upcoming ODI and T20I matches.

Prince Yadav will join the ODI squad in England to fill the gap left by Rana.

Ravi Bishnoi, who had a costly 17th over in the second T20I against England, which contributed to India's loss, has been given another chance as he replaces Chakravarthy for the T20I series in Zimbabwe set to begin later this month.

According to a statement from the BCCI, Rana experienced sudden discomfort in his right hamstring during the third T20I at Trent Bridge, leading to a diagnosis of a Grade 1 hamstring injury.

The board confirmed that he will miss the upcoming ODI series against England and will report to the BCCI Centre of Excellence for further evaluation and treatment.

Chakravarthy, on the other hand, is dealing with a Grade 2 injury that may keep him out for three to six months, depending on his recovery process. At nearly 35 years old, it remains to be seen how quickly he can bounce back.

He also reported sudden discomfort in his left hamstring during the third T20I, and an MRI confirmed the Grade 2 injury. Following medical advice, he will also be reporting to the BCCI COE for further management.
