U-17 Boys' Performance at Asian Boxing Championships

The Indian U-17 boys faced tough competition at the Asian Boxing U17 Championships 2026, held in Tashkent, Uzbekistan. Lakshay Phogat stood out as the only finalist, while four other boxers earned bronze medals after their semifinal matches. In the 75kg division, Lakshay Phogat showcased his skills by defeating Seungmin Lee from Korea (KOR) with a unanimous score of 5:0, securing his spot in the finals. However, other semifinal results were less favorable: Narendra Nella (46kg) lost 0:5 to Abdulloh Nuraliev from Uzbekistan (UZB), Yash Yadav (50kg) fell 1:4 to Suld Usukhbaatar from Mongolia (MGL), and Nivesh Pal (54kg) was defeated 0:5 by Abdulbosit Yursunboev from Uzbekistan (UZB). Naman (70kg) had a narrow loss, finishing 2:3 against Abduvohid Abdumajidov of Uzbekistan (UZB).


With one finalist and four bronze medals, the Indian U-17 boys' team aims to conclude the championships on a high note.


Women's Team Results

In earlier rounds of the tournament, Rakhi (46kg) made a strong impression with a third-round RSC victory over Yating Zhang from China (CHN). Khushi Chand also excelled in the 48kg category, winning decisively with a 5:0 score against Mungunzul Altamgadasa from Mongolia (MGL). Mamta Murlidhar Raut (52kg) faced a setback, losing 0:5 to Yaxin Qiu from China (CHN), while Laxmi Manjunath Lamani (54kg) lost 1:4 to Kumriniso Muhammadova from Uzbekistan (UZB).


Navya (57kg) advanced to the finals after winning by RSC in the second round against Dagiimaa Chuluutumur from Mongolia (MGL). Ishika (60kg) narrowly lost 2:3 to Balym Gabitkyzy from Kazakhstan (KAZ). Diya (63kg) achieved a strong first-round RSC victory over Jia-En Song from Chinese Taipei (TPE).


In the 66kg category, Harnoor Kaur lost 0:5 to Ayaulym Ospanova from Kazakhstan (KAZ). Himanshi (70kg) won by RSC in the first round against Jude Habi from Jordan (JOR), while Jyoti (75kg) progressed with an RSC win in the first round against Cheng-Hui Zou from Chinese Taipei (TPE). Vanshika (80kg) secured a solid 4:1 victory over Feruzabonu Kamolova from Uzbekistan (UZB).


In the 80+kg category, Gurseerat Kaur reached the finals with a first-round RSC win against Xin-Ying Huang from Chinese Taipei (TPE).
