India's Medal Hopes Rise at CWG 2026 with Key Events Scheduled
India's Ambitious Pursuit of Medals on July 26
Following a modest start with only one medal in the initial three days, India is set to boost its medal count on Sunday, July 26. The spotlight will be on Tokyo Olympic champion Mirabai Chanu, who aims to defend her title after clinching gold in the 2022 Birmingham edition. Chanu, who had the honor of being India's flag bearer during the opening ceremony on July 23, will compete alongside two other Indian weightlifters on the fourth day of the Glasgow event. In total, Indian athletes will participate in five different sports, presenting opportunities to secure five medals.
