Moqi (China): In a thrilling encounter, the Indian junior men's hockey team showcased their prowess by defeating South Korea 7-3, with Captain Anmol Ekka scoring twice. This victory positions India favorably for a semifinal spot in the Asia Cup.

The match was tightly contested for most of its duration, as South Korea matched India goal for goal. However, the defending champions surged ahead with a crucial three-goal flurry in the final quarter.

With this win, India accumulated seven points from three matches, comprising two victories and one draw. Their next challenge is against Chinese Taipei on Wednesday, where a win will guarantee their advancement to the semifinals.

Anmol Ekka was instrumental in India's success, netting two goals to bring his tournament total to eight.

The match began with India taking an early lead in the fifth minute through a penalty corner conversion by Anmol.

South Korea quickly equalized, with Dohyeon Choi scoring from a penalty corner just a minute later.

The second quarter mirrored this back-and-forth dynamic. Lovenoor Singh restored India's lead with a field goal in the 18th minute, but South Korea responded swiftly again, with Hyoguk Yoo scoring from a penalty corner within a minute to level the score at 2-2.

India managed to regain the lead before halftime, with Ajeet Yadav scoring in the 20th minute to make it 3-2 at the break.

After halftime, South Korea continued to challenge the Indian defense. Yoo scored his second goal just six minutes into the third quarter, leveling the match at 3-3.

In the final quarter, India responded decisively. Prabhdeep Singh scored towards the end of the third quarter, giving India a 4-3 lead.

India then unleashed a remarkable three-goal blitz within three minutes. Gursewak Singh scored in the 55th minute, followed by Anmol's penalty corner goal a minute later, extending the lead to 6-3. Aryan Xess capped off the scoring in the 58th minute, sealing the match at 7-3.

This defeat leaves South Korea with six points, facing a challenging final Pool A match against Japan, who are also vying for a semifinal spot.
