India Set for T20 Series in Ireland

New Delhi: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced that the current world champions, India, will engage in two T20 International matches against Ireland on June 26 and June 28, 2026. This series will take place in Belfast, marking the Indian team's first visit to the city since 2007.

BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia confirmed the details, stating, "Team India (Senior Men) will head to Ireland for a two-match T20I series in June 2026. This tour will be significant as it marks India's return to Belfast after nearly two decades, having previously toured Ireland three times in the last eight years (2018, 2022, and 2023)."

The announcement follows a confirmation from Graham West, Ireland's director of high performance, who revealed the series while also discussing Paul Stirling's resignation as T20I captain.

Before heading to Ireland, India will host Afghanistan for a one-off Test and a three-match ODI series concluding on June 20. Following the Ireland matches, the Indian team will travel to England for a series comprising five T20Is and three ODIs from July 1 to July 19.

India's previous tours to Ireland have attracted large crowds, particularly at Malahide, located near Dublin. West noted that the upcoming series against India is part of Ireland's strategic plans for the summer, emphasizing the opportunity for a new captain to establish their leadership style ahead of the T20 World Cup in 2028.
