New Delhi, Nov 26: The Indian women's kabaddi team returned home to a warm welcome after clinching victory against Chinese Taipei in the Women's Kabaddi World Cup held in Dhaka, Bangladesh. They achieved a 35–28 win in the final, marking their second consecutive World Cup title and reinforcing their dominance in the sport.


Coach's Pride

Head coach V. Tejeswini Bai expressed immense pride in her team's performance. She stated, “What this team accomplished in Dhaka fills me with pride. The girls exhibited remarkable heart, discipline, and determination — each match showcased their desire to bring honor to India.”


Reflecting on her coaching journey, she added, “Having led the team to victory in the 2023 Asian Games and the 2025 Asian Kabaddi Championship, this marks a hat-trick of wins for me. Winning a World Cup medal is always significant, but witnessing these young women rise to the occasion makes it even more special. As a coach, I couldn't be prouder.”

Captain Ritu Negi emphasized the importance of this victory for the future of women's kabaddi in India. She remarked, “Winning the World Cup for India is indescribable. As captain, I recognize that my strength lies in the team behind me, and this group faced every challenge together.”

Tournament Overview

India showcased their prowess throughout the tournament, winning all group-stage matches and defeating Iran 33–21 in the semi-finals to secure a spot in the final. Chinese Taipei also maintained an unbeaten streak in their group and triumphed over hosts Bangladesh 25–18 in the other semi-final.
