Nagoya: The Indian women's kabaddi team has once again showcased their prowess at the Asian Games, clinching the gold medal with a nail-biting 37-34 victory over Iran in the final held on Saturday.

At halftime, India led with a score of 22-16, but Iran fought back in the second half, winning that segment 18-15. Despite their efforts, Iran couldn't close the gap, allowing India to secure the gold.

Following their victory, the team celebrated with a lap around the arena, proudly singing the national anthem 'Vande Mataram'.

This latest win marks a remarkable achievement, as the Indian women's kabaddi team has now claimed gold in every Asian Games edition, except for the 2018 Jakarta Games, where they settled for silver after losing to Iran.

Later on Saturday, the men's kabaddi team will also have the opportunity to achieve a golden double as they prepare to face Iran in their final.

India has consistently dominated kabaddi at the Asian Games, with both men's and women's teams winning gold in nearly every edition.

The men's team had a streak of seven consecutive gold medals until their run was interrupted in Jakarta 2018, where they finished fourth. However, they made a strong comeback at the 2023 Hangzhou Games, reclaiming their title.
