While Ayhika Mukherjee's unexpected exit from the singles competition was disheartening, the strong performances of Ankur and Payas provided a silver lining as they both advanced to the semi-finals, keeping India's aspirations alive.


As reported by a sports outlet, "Ayhika Mukherjee was eliminated from the WTT Contender Buenos Aires after suffering a defeat in the women's singles quarterfinals against Hong Kong's Su Tsz Tung."


Disappointment for Manav Thakkar

Manav Thakkar faced disappointment as he lost his semifinal match in straight games, concluding his journey in Buenos Aires. Thakkar was defeated 3-0 (12-10, 11-5, 11-5) by Mizuki Oikawa. Earlier, he had showcased his skills by defeating Malta's Kim Taehyun to reach the quarterfinals.


Ayhika Mukherjee's singles journey ended in the quarterfinals with a 3-1 loss (7-11, 13-11, 11-7, 11-8) to Su Tsz Tung. The World No. 94 Indian player had previously demonstrated her tenacity by overcoming World No. 18 Takahashi in a thrilling first-round match, followed by a solid win against Brazil's Karina Shiray in the round of 16.


Doubles Success for Ankur and Payas

In the doubles category, Ankur and Payas delivered an impressive performance, defeating the third-seeded local team of Horacio Cifuentes and Santiago Lorenzo with a score of 3-0 (12-10, 11-3, 11-6) in just 22 minutes. The Indian pair is set to face Japanese qualifiers Kazuki Hamada and Hiromu Kobayashi in the finals on Sunday.
