Indian Junior Women's Hockey Team Triumphs Over Ireland with 4-0 Victory

India Dominates in Final Pool C Match

In a commanding performance, the Indian Junior Women's Hockey Team achieved a 4-0 victory against Ireland during their concluding Pool C match at the FIH Junior Women's World Cup, held at the Centro Deportivo de Hockey Cesped, Estadio Nacional in Santiago on Friday. The goals were scored by Purnima Yadav (42', 58'), Kanika Siwach (12'), and Sakshi Rana (57'), as reported by Hockey India.


Strong Start by India

India kicked off the match with a vigorous approach, earning a Penalty Corner within the first 12 seconds, although they failed to convert. They maintained pressure, securing another Penalty Corner in the tenth minute, which also went unused. However, two minutes later, Sakshi Rana delivered an excellent pass to Kanika Siwach (12'), who skillfully maneuvered around the advancing Irish goalkeeper to score the opening goal.


Third Quarter Expansion of Lead

In the third quarter, India continued to dominate possession, effectively stretching the Irish defense. In the 40th minute, Manisha set up Sukhveer Kaur, whose shot narrowly missed the target. Shortly after, India earned another Penalty Corner in the 42nd minute, which was successfully converted when Sakshi Shukla assisted Purnima Yadav (42'), allowing her to deflect the ball into the net and increase India's lead.


Final Quarter Seals the Match

The fourth quarter saw Ireland attempt to rally, with Eabha Curran making a run towards goal, but her shot was thwarted by a timely block from Nandini. India then scored two quick goals in the 57th and 58th minutes. First, Sakshi Rana (57') displayed remarkable skill, evading defenders to score with a powerful shot. This was followed by Purnima Yadav (58'), who calmly deflected the ball over the goalkeeper, securing India's fourth and final goal of the match.
