Indian Cricket Team Announces Squad for England Tour Amidst Controversy
Announcement of the Indian Cricket Team for England Tour
The Indian cricket team has officially announced its squad for the upcoming tour of England. The senior selection committee of the BCCI revealed an 18-member team for the five-match Test series, which includes the young all-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy. However, amidst this positive news, Nitish has expressed his distress over fraudulent activities involving his name and has made a public appeal to fans on social media.
Selection Committee's Decision
On Saturday, May 24, the selection committee, led by Ajit Agarkar, announced the team at the BCCI headquarters in Mumbai. As anticipated, Nitish Reddy secured a spot in the squad. He made his Test debut during last year's tour of Australia, where he impressed everyone with his outstanding performance with the bat. Thus, his selection was expected.
Nitish Appeals to Fans
While the selectors were finalizing the squad for the England tour, Nitish was grappling with a different issue. He faced impersonation on social media, which has caused him considerable distress. Several fake accounts bearing his name have misled fans into believing they were authentic. Consequently, Nitish took to his 'X' account to urge fans not to fall for these impostors.
He stated, "Dear friends, I have been receiving numerous messages lately about several accounts operating in my name. I want to clarify that this is my genuine account. Therefore, please do not connect with any other profiles claiming to be me and report them instead."
A Common Issue Among Celebrities
Nitish is not the first cricketer to encounter this issue. The prevalence of fake accounts on social media has become a common problem, where users create profiles impersonating athletes, film stars, and politicians, often leading others to mistake them for the real individuals. While many celebrities choose to ignore such impersonations, Nitish has taken the initiative to address the matter directly, assisting his fans and other users.
