Priya Ghanghas Shines with Bronze in Nishio


Nishio (Japan): Indian boxer Priya Ghanghas concluded her campaign with a bronze medal after losing to former world champion Yang Chengyu from China in the semifinal of the 60kg category on Wednesday.


At just 20 years old, Priya made her debut at the Games but faced a tough match, ultimately falling 1-4 to her more seasoned opponent.


The Indian boxing team has surpassed their previous performance from the last edition, where they secured one silver and three bronze medals, by achieving a total of six medals this time.


Both Parveen Hooda (65kg) and Ankush Panghal (80kg) have advanced to the finals, which are set for Friday.


Additionally, superheavyweight boxer Narender Berwal also earned a bronze medal on Tuesday.


Olympic medalist Lovlina Borgohain (75kg) and Kapil Pokhariya (90kg) are aiming to reach the gold medal matches later today.
