Indian Athletes Shine with Bronze Medals at Asian Athletics Championships

Medal Achievements at the Championships

At the 26th Asian Athletics Championships held on Saturday, India's Animesh Kujur and Vithya Ramraj each secured a bronze medal in their respective events: the men's 200 meters final and the women's 400 meters hurdles.


Kujur showcased an impressive performance in the men's 200 meters, setting a new national record of 20.32 seconds to earn his bronze medal.


The 21-year-old athlete surpassed his previous best of 20.40 seconds, which he achieved earlier this year during the National Federation Senior Athletics Competition.


Japan's Towa Uzawa claimed the gold medal with a time of 20.12 seconds, while Saudi Arabia's Abdulaziz Abdu I Atafi took home the silver in 20.31 seconds.


In the women's 400 meters hurdles, Vithya Ramraj, a medallist from the Asian Games, added another bronze for India. The 26-year-old from Tamil Nadu finished the race in 56.46 seconds.


China's Mo Jiadie won gold with a time of 55.31 seconds, closely followed by Bahrain's Oluwakemi Adekoya, who secured silver in 55.32 seconds. Another Indian competitor, Anu Raghavan, finished seventh with a time of 57.46 seconds.


In the women's 200 meters final, Jyoti Yarraji placed fifth with a time of 23.47 seconds, while Nithya Gandhe came in seventh at 23.90 seconds. Earlier in the week, Yarraji had already won gold in the women's 100 meters hurdles.
