India's Performance at the Commonwealth Games 2026

The Commonwealth Games 2026 are currently taking place in Glasgow, Scotland, where India is actively competing in various sports including athletics, weightlifting, boxing, and swimming.


As reported by ESPN, Gulveer Singh is set to participate in the men's 10,000m final, while Pooja Singh will compete in the women's high jump final later in the evening.


In the boxing arena, several Indian boxers are gearing up for the quarterfinals, with Preeti Pawar, Priya Ghanghas, Kapil Pokhariya, and Jadumani Singh ready to step into the ring.


In weightlifting, Nirupama Devi Seram and Harjinder Kaur will be competing in the finals of their respective weight classes. Additionally, swimmer Srihari Nataraj will kick off his campaign in the 100m backstroke heats, with a chance to advance to the semifinals.


India had a remarkable Day 5 at the Commonwealth Games, securing four medals and raising its total medal count to 10.


The standout moment was Sharmila Dhankar's gold medal in the women's shot put F57, marking her as India's first-ever Commonwealth Games gold medalist in para athletics. Shilpa K. Shyla also benefited from a Nigerian athlete's disqualification, earning a bronze medal and contributing to India's double podium finish.


In athletics, Sarvesh Kushare claimed silver in the men's high jump, while Murali Sreeshankar and Lokesh Satyanathan qualified for the long jump final. Weightlifting added three more medals to India's tally, with Gyaneshwari Yadav winning silver, Bindyarani Devi taking bronze, and Valluri Ajaya Babu also securing silver.


India's boxing and swimming teams also made significant progress, with several athletes advancing to the next rounds. Sajan Prakash and Swatik Patil reached the swimming finals, although Tejas Shirse, Sumit Kundu, and others were eliminated from their events.


So far, India's medal winners include Mirabai Chanu and Sharmila Dhankar with gold medals, alongside five silver and three bronze medals across weightlifting, athletics, and para powerlifting.
