India Shines at Asian U23 Athletics Championships with Gold in Mixed 4x400m Relay

On the opening day of the Asian U23 Athletics Championships in Ordos, China, Indian athletes delivered an outstanding performance, clinching a gold medal in the mixed 4x400m relay. The team, consisting of Astik Pradhan, Sandramol Sabu, Setu Mishra, and Shravani Sachin Sangle, finished with a time of 3:18.64 seconds. Additionally, India secured medals in the men's 5,000m and women's 3,000m steeplechase, showcasing their strength in distance running. This event marks a significant achievement for Indian athletics on an international stage.
 

India's Stellar Start at the Championships


Bhubaneswar: Indian athletes showcased their prowess by clinching a gold medal in the mixed 4x400m relay during the inaugural Asian U23 Athletics Championships held in Ordos, China, on Thursday. In addition to this remarkable achievement, the Indian contingent also secured medals in the men's 5,000m, men's discus throw, and women's 3,000m steeplechase events. The standout moment of the first day was undoubtedly the gold medal in the mixed relay.


The team finished with an impressive time of 3:18.64 seconds, narrowly beating China, which clocked 3:18.74 seconds, while the Philippines took third place with a time of 3:25.28 seconds. The gold medal-winning squad comprised Astik Pradhan, Sandramol Sabu, Setu Mishra, and Shravani Sachin Sangle. Additionally, Indian distance runners Shivaji Parashuram and Vinod Singh excelled in the men's 5,000m, earning silver and bronze medals, respectively. Parashuram recorded a time of 14:08.19 seconds, while Singh finished with a time of 14:23.57 seconds. Japan's Rui Suzuki emerged victorious in this event with a time of 14:01.24 seconds. In the women's 3,000m steeplechase, Prachi Ankush Devkar secured third place with a time of 10:32.69 seconds.
