Anantjeet and Parinaaz Capture Bronze in Mixed Team Skeet

The duo of Anantjeet Singh Naruka and Parinaaz Dhaliwaal secured a bronze medal in the mixed team skeet shooting finals during the Asian Games 2026 held in Aichi-Nagoya on Thursday. India achieved a total score of 44 over six series, while China set a new world record with a score of 52, claiming the gold medal. South Korea took home the silver with a score of 51. Notably, China surpassed the previous world record of 47, which was held by Qatar since January 2026, with Qatar finishing in fourth place with just 18 points.

India's Medal Count at the Asian Games

This victory marks India's 15th medal at the ongoing Asian Games, which includes one gold, six silvers, and now eight bronzes. Additionally, this is the eighth medal in shooting for India in this edition, evenly divided between silver and bronze.

Qualification Round Performance

Anantjeet and Parinaaz finished fourth in the qualification round, scoring 138 out of 150 points, as reported by Olympics.com. The teams ahead of them included Qatar (145), South Korea (143), and China (140), leading them to the finals.

Team Contributions in Skeet Shooting

Both Anantjeet and Parinaaz were integral to their respective men's and women's skeet teams, which also earned medals on Wednesday. Anantjeet played a vital role in securing a bronze for the men's team, while Parinaaz, alongside Raiza Dhillon and Maheshwari Chauhan, contributed to the women's team's bronze medal.

Men's 10m Air Pistol Team Disappointment

In a disappointing turn of events, the men's 10m air pistol team, consisting of Kamaljeet, Kedarling Balakrishna, and Aakash Bhardwaj, finished fourth. They scored 1727-53x, falling short of the podium, with China (1743-70x), Indonesia (1743-57x), and Japan (1730-54x) taking the top three spots.

Individual Performances in Air Pistol

Kamaljeet completed his 60 shots with a score of 580-16x, placing ninth overall. Aakash finished eleventh with a score of 579-20x, while Kedarling Uchaganve ended in 35th with a score of 568. Only the top eight shooters advance to the individual finals, and India's team slipped from third to fourth due to Kedarling's performance.

Roshibina Devi's Historic Silver in Wushu

Earlier, Indian wushu athlete Roshibina Devi achieved her second consecutive silver medal at the Asian Games, losing to China's Zhang Xiaoyu in the women's sanda 60 kg final. Roshibina, who also won a silver at the 2022 Hangzhou Asian Games, lost both rounds with a score of 0-5, as reported by ESPN. With a bronze from the 2018 Asian Games, she becomes the first Indian woman to earn three consecutive medals in Wushu at the Asian Games.

Roshibina's Impressive Journey

Roshibina's journey in Japan included a notable victory over the 2023 world champion Nguyen Thi Thu Thuy from Vietnam. In the semi-finals, she defeated Indonesia's Thania Kusumaningtyas 2-0 to secure her place in the final.

Bronze in Rowing; Panwar's Fourth Place Finish

In rowing, the pair of Satnam Singh and Salman Khan clinched a bronze medal in the men's double sculls final, finishing with a time of 6:13.25. They were 3.48 seconds behind the gold medalists from China, Yi Xudi and Nie Yide, and 2.76 seconds behind the silver medalists, Mekhrojbek Mamatkulov and Pavel Sorin, according to ESPN.

Balraj Panwar's Near Miss

In the men's singles sculls, Balraj Panwar narrowly missed out on a medal, finishing fourth. He maintained second place at the 500m, 1000m, and 1500m marks but was overtaken in the final stretch by Shakhboz Kholmurzaev of Uzbekistan and Tatsuya Sakurama of Japan. Balraj clocked a time of 6:54.80, finishing eight seconds behind Sakurama and 15 seconds behind gold medalist Zhiwei Deng of China.
