New Delhi, June 16: The International Cricket Council (ICC) has officially announced that India will kick off the eagerly awaited 2025 ICC Women’s ODI World Cup against Sri Lanka at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on September 30.
In a notable match, India will face Pakistan at the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo on October 5, with Pakistan scheduled to play all their matches in Colombo as part of the hybrid model agreed upon by the BCCI and PCB.
Defending champions Australia will start their tournament against New Zealand at Holkar Cricket Stadium in Indore on October 1, while Bangladesh will take on Pakistan the following day in Colombo. A highlight of the tournament will be Australia's clash with England on October 22 in Indore, a rematch of the previous final.
ICC Chairman Jay Shah expressed enthusiasm about the tournament, stating, “The confirmation of the schedule only builds further excitement and anticipation for the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025. With the eight best teams in the women’s game descending on India, alongside incredible venues and what promises to be record-breaking crowds, we are all looking forward to an unforgettable tournament.”
The round-robin phase will continue until October 26, culminating in two matches on the final day: England will face New Zealand in Guwahati at 11 am, while India will host Bangladesh in Bengaluru at 3 pm.
The top four teams from the round-robin stage will advance to the semi-finals, with the first-place team playing the fourth and the second facing the third. The semi-finals are set for October 29 and 30, leading up to the final on November 2.
The first semi-final will take place in either Guwahati or Colombo, depending on Pakistan's performance, while the second will be held in Bengaluru. The final match will be hosted in either Bengaluru or Colombo.
