BCCI Vice-President Praises Indian Team Ahead of Final
Rajeev Shukla, the vice-president of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), has commended the Indian cricket team for their impressive performance in the ongoing T20 Asia Cup. He expressed optimism about the team's chances of securing the title. The final match against their long-time rivals, Pakistan, is set to occur at the Dubai International Stadium on September 28, 2025.
This final marks a significant milestone as it will be the first time India and Pakistan face each other in the Asia Cup final, a notable event in the tournament's 41-year history. India has previously triumphed over Pakistan twice in this edition of the Asia Cup.
Shukla remarked on the team's strong composition, highlighting their undefeated streak throughout the tournament. He stated, "Our team has performed brilliantly in the #AsiaCup2025. The team has a good combination. I am very confident that we will be the Asia Cup Champions and lift the Cup. Best wishes to Team India."
In their group stage encounter, India showcased dominance over Pakistan, achieving a seven-wicket victory, largely due to Kuldeep Yadav's exceptional bowling performance, where he took 3 wickets for just 18 runs.
During the Super 4s match, Abhishek Sharma's explosive innings of 74 runs off 39 balls dismantled Pakistan's bowling lineup, leading India to a convincing six-wicket win.
Abhishek Sharma has emerged as the standout batter of the tournament, having scored his third consecutive fifty during the Asia Cup. In the final Super Four match against Sri Lanka, he scored an impressive 61 runs off just 31 balls, hitting eight fours and two sixes at a strike rate of 196.77.
On the bowling front, Kuldeep Yadav has been a key player, utilizing his variations effectively to outsmart opposing batters. He currently leads the wicket-takers' chart with 13 wickets in six matches, maintaining an economy rate of 6.05.
