India Secures Bronze in Women's Skeet Team Event at Asian Games 2026

India's Achievement in Shooting at Asian Games

Nagoya, Sep 23: India has added another medal to its collection at the Asian Games 2026, with the women's skeet team comprising Parinaaz Dhaliwal, Razia Dhillon, and Maheshwari Chauhan clinching a bronze medal.

After three days of qualification rounds, the trio scored a total of 331, securing third place on the podium. The gold medal was won by the Chinese team of Che Yufei, Jian Yiting, and Jiang Chaoyu, who achieved a score of 347, while Kazakhstan's team, consisting of Assem Orynbay, Zoya Piskun, and Adel Sadakbayeva, took home the silver with a score of 336.

Earlier, double Olympic medallist Manu Bhaker qualified for the 10m air pistol final, finishing third in the qualification with a score of 579-20x. Unfortunately, the Indian team, including Esha, Manu, and Suruchi, faced a heartbreaking end in the team final, falling just short of bronze against Vietnam by two inner-10s.

With the bronze in the women's skeet event, India's shooting medal tally has now reached six, comprising four silver and two bronze medals. In the last Asian Games held in Hangzhou, India achieved a remarkable total of 22 medals, including seven golds, nine silvers, and six bronzes.

In another exciting development, Jay Meena made history by securing India's first medal in soft tennis at the Asian Games. He staged a remarkable comeback against Sherwin Nuguit in the quarter-finals, overcoming a 3-5 deficit in the final game to win 4-3 and advance to the semi-finals, where he will compete against the winner of the match between Japan’s Takuya Kurosaka and Chinese Taipei’s Yu-sung Chang.

The losing semi-finalists will earn bronze medals, while the winners will compete for gold.

Currently, India ranks eighth in the overall medal tally with one gold, four silver, and three bronze medals. In the previous edition, India finished fourth with a historic total of 107 medals.
