India Triumphs with a 15-Run Win

In a thrilling conclusion to the T20I series, India emerged victorious against Sri Lanka by 15 runs, thanks to a stellar fifty from captain Harmanpreet Kaur and a strong bowling display that defended a target of 176 runs. This victory marked a clean sweep for India, finishing the series 5-0.

Sri Lanka's Chase Stumbles

Sri Lanka's pursuit of 176 began poorly as they lost their captain Chamari Athapaththu early, dismissed for just two runs by Arundhati Reddy, caught by Deepti Sharma. At 1.5 overs, Sri Lanka was at 7/1.

Imesha Dulani quickly made her presence felt, hitting two boundaries off Deepti. Alongside Hasini Perera, they countered effectively, finishing the powerplay at 48/1, with Dulani on 27* and Perera on 17*.

The team crossed the 50-run mark in 6.2 overs and reached 75/1 at the halfway point, needing 101 runs in the last 10 overs.

India's Spinners Turn the Tide

Dulani reached her fifty in just 38 balls, hitting eight fours, but Amanjot Kaur broke the 79-run partnership by dismissing her for 50 runs off 39 balls, leaving Sri Lanka at 86/2 in 11.1 overs.

India's spinners then took control, with Deepti Sharma claiming her record-breaking 152nd T20I wicket by removing Nilakshi de Silva for three runs, while Vaishnavi Sharma dismissed Kavisha Dillhari for five. Sri Lanka found themselves at 107/4 in 14.3 overs.

Hasini Perera also reached her fifty, scoring 65 runs off 42 balls, but was eventually dismissed by the Indian spinner. Sri Lanka struggled thereafter, finishing their innings at 160/7, with Rashmika Sevwandi and Malki Mandara remaining not out.

Harmanpreet Kaur's Key Contribution

Harmanpreet Kaur's impressive fifty, complemented by a late surge from Arundhati Reddy, propelled India to a total of 175/7 in their innings.

After winning the toss, Sri Lanka opted to field, and India faced an uncertain start, losing Shafali Verma for five runs and debutant G. Kamalini for 12.

Harleen Deol and wicketkeeper Richa Ghosh also fell cheaply, leaving India at a precarious position with four wickets down within the first 10 overs.

Kaur Steadies the Ship

Despite the early setbacks, Kaur steadied the innings alongside Amanjot Kaur, who rotated the strike effectively while Kaur found the boundary consistently.

In the 15th over, Kaur hit two consecutive fours off Athapaththu to reach her fifty.

However, Rashmika Sewwandi ended the 61-run partnership by dismissing Amanjot for 21 runs, and Kaur was eventually bowled out for 68 runs by Kavisha Dilhari.

Reddy's Late-Game Heroics

Arundhati Reddy's explosive 27 runs off just 11 balls, including four boundaries and a six, alongside Sneh Rana's contribution, added a crucial 33 runs for the eighth wicket, helping India set a competitive target. Reddy's performance in the final over was particularly impactful, scoring 20 runs off Malki Madara.

India concluded their innings at 175/7, setting Sri Lanka a challenging target of 176 runs to avoid a series whitewash.
