India Dominates Bangladesh in Badminton at Asian Games 2026
India's Badminton Triumph
In a commanding performance, India secured a 3-0 victory against Bangladesh in the men's badminton team event during the Asian Games 2026. The team featured standout players Lakshya Sen, Ayush Shetty, and Kidambi Srikanth, who each won their singles matches.
Lakshya Sen kicked off the competition with an impressive win over Ayman Ibn Jaman, finishing the match with scores of 21-4 and 21-12, giving India an early lead.
Ayush Shetty followed suit, defeating Gourab Singha with a score of 21-4, 21-13, further extending India's advantage. With just one more win needed to clinch the tie, veteran player Kidambi Srikanth stepped in and secured a straight-game victory against Al Amin Jumar, winning 21-15, 21-9, thus sealing India's 3-0 win.
Thanks to these three singles victories, the doubles matches were rendered unnecessary, allowing India to advance to the quarterfinals of the men's team event. The next challenge for the team is likely to be against Japan.

On Monday, India enjoyed a remarkable day at the Asian Games, achieving medal wins in shooting and mixed martial arts, alongside victories in hockey, badminton, kabaddi, boxing, and table tennis.
Shooting Achievements
Shooting proved to be a significant contributor to India's medal tally, with Himanshu Dhillon earning a silver medal and Rudrankksh Patil taking home bronze in the men's 10m air rifle individual final. Earlier, the duo, along with Parth Mane, had secured silver in the men's 10m air rifle team event.
In the qualification round for the men's 10m air rifle individual, Rudrankksh Patil placed third while Himanshu Dhillon came in seventh, both qualifying for the final, whereas Parth Mane finished 11th.
Mixed Martial Arts
In mixed martial arts, Suchika Tariyal captured a bronze medal in the women's traditional 60kg category after a semifinal loss to Singapore's Teo Hui Hoon.
Hockey
The Indian women's hockey team showcased their prowess with a resounding 17-1 victory over Indonesia in their Pool B match.
Kabaddi
The men's kabaddi team also achieved a decisive 49-23 win against Japan in their Group A match.
Boxing
In boxing, Sumit progressed to the next round after defeating Bunjong Sinsiri in the men's 70kg Round of 32 bout.
Table Tennis
The women's table tennis team triumphed over Pakistan with a 3-0 victory in their Group F match.
Swimming
In swimming, Srihari Nataraj qualified for the men's 50m backstroke final, while Rishabh Das remained a reserve. Mani Akash and Gitesh Shah did not qualify for the men's 50m freestyle final, and Dhanush Suresh missed out on the men's 100m breaststroke final.
Soft Tennis
In soft tennis, Aadhya Tiwari and Jay Meena achieved victories against Cambodia's Viva Chao-Chanroseka Khun and Mongolia's Bud Nyamdorj-Enkhkhuslen Ganbaatar in mixed doubles. However, they faced defeat against South Korea's Kim Yeon-hwa-Jaekyu Park and were eliminated after a Round of 16 loss to the Philippines' Christy Sanosa and Sherwin Nuguit.
Wushu and Sepaktakraw
In wushu, Nyeman Wangsu finished 15th in the women's Changquan final, while the men's team lost to Japan in the Sepaktakraw team regu Group B match.
Shooting Skeet Qualification
In the women's individual shooting skeet qualification, Raiza Dhillon, Parinaaz Dhaliwal, and Maheshwari Chauhan placed ninth, 14th, and 16th respectively after Day 1. In the men's skeet qualification, Anant Jeet Singh Naruka, Mairaj Khan, and Bhavtegh Singh Gill finished 21st, 26th, and 27th respectively.
