This win gives India a commanding 2-1 lead in the five-match series.

Despite India setting a modest target of 167/8 on a pitch that offered variable bounce, their bowlers executed a brilliant strategy that turned the match in their favor. All six bowlers utilized in the match claimed at least one wicket, with Sundar, Axar, and Dube emerging as the standout players.

Australia, who seemed in a strong position to chase down the target of 168, suffered a dramatic collapse, losing their last nine wickets for a mere 52 runs. They were ultimately bowled out for 119 in just 18.2 overs, putting them in a must-win situation for the final match in Brisbane on Saturday.

The Australian innings began with Matthew Short and Mitchell Marsh hitting six boundaries, but Axar Patel broke the partnership by trapping Short lbw. He later dismissed Josh Inglis, while Marsh's promising innings ended when he fell to a slower delivery from Dube.

Australia's middle order struggled under pressure, with Tim David misplaying a pull shot off Dube and getting caught at extra cover. Josh Philippe followed suit, caught at short mid-wicket off Arshdeep Singh, and Glenn Maxwell was dismissed by a googly from Varun Chakaravarthy that clipped the top of the stumps.

Sundar then made a significant impact, taking two wickets in quick succession, including Marcus Stoinis lbw and a return catch from Xavier Bartlett, marking his 50th T20I wicket. Jasprit Bumrah also made his mark by claiming his 99th T20I wicket, bowling out Ben Dwarshuis, while Sundar wrapped up the match by having Adam Zampa caught at long-on.
