On Saturday, October 3, Team India, under the captaincy of Shreyas Iyer, showcased an impressive performance to secure their gold medal at the Asian Games, defeating Pakistan by 19 runs in the final held at Korogi Sports Park in Nisshin.
India set a formidable target of 211 runs for 6 wickets in their 20 overs, bolstered by outstanding half-centuries from opener Abhishek Sharma, who scored 61 runs, and a solid 51 not out from a middle-order batsman.
In response, Pakistan managed to score 192 runs for 6 wickets in their allotted overs. Despite a valiant effort from Hasan Nawaz, who scored 96 runs, and a partnership of 87 runs for the fourth wicket with Saim Ayub, who contributed 29 runs off 22 balls, they fell short.
The Indian bowling attack was led by Axar Patel, Washington Sundar, and Shivam Dube, who collectively took six wickets, with figures of 2/29, 2/29, and 2/33 respectively, ensuring a successful defense of their title.
