India A Secures a Convincing Win

In a remarkable display of talent, India A triumphed over Australia A by 162 runs in their first four-day match held at Cap-Siechem Stadium on Friday. Key contributions from Kumar Kushagra and Shams Mulani were instrumental in this victory.

Starting their second innings at 55/2 and needing 308 runs to win, Australia A was dismissed for 200. Mulani took three wickets, including the top scorer Fergus O’Neill, who made 47 runs off 52 balls, hitting six fours and a six. Anshul Kamboj, a medium pacer, claimed 2 wickets for 25 runs, dismissing Nathan McSweeney (35 runs off 75 balls) and captain Peter Handscomb (16 runs) early on, putting Australia A on the defensive.

Pacer Tushar Deshpande, replacing Kamboj, took two wickets in consecutive deliveries, while off-spinner Tanush Kotian bowled out Jason Sangha, leaving Australia A struggling at 185/7 by lunchtime.

Kushagra's Century Fuels India A's Innings

India A won the toss and chose to bat first. Kumar Kushagra scored a brilliant 113 runs off 240 balls, supported by Tanush Kotian with 69 runs off 138 balls, and Sai Sudharsan who added 57 runs off 103 balls, leading India to a total of 334 runs. Corey Rocchiccioli and Todd Murphy were the standout bowlers for Australia A, taking 4/95 and 3/77 respectively.

Australia A Struggles, India A Sets a Challenging Target

In their first innings, Australia A was bowled out for 171 runs, with Shams Mulani being the top bowler, taking 4 wickets for 67 runs. Jason Sangha scored 46 runs off 64 balls, while Sam Konstas contributed 25 runs off 76 balls. This left India A with a 163-run lead.

In their second innings, India A was dismissed for 199 runs, with notable performances from Devdutt Padikkal (59 runs off 88 balls), Kumar Kushagra (46 not out off 59 balls), and Sudharsan (39 runs off 85 balls), setting a target of 363 runs for Australia A.
