Overview of the Women's T20 World Cup 2026
The International Cricket Council (ICC) has officially released the schedule for the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026, set to take place from June 12 to July 5.
In Group 1, teams include Australia, South Africa, India, Pakistan, along with two qualifying teams. Group 2 consists of the host nation England, the reigning champions New Zealand, West Indies, Sri Lanka, and two additional qualifiers.
This edition of the tournament is the largest yet, featuring 12 teams competing for the prestigious trophy, an increase from the previous 10.
The event will unfold over 24 days, showcasing 33 matches at seven renowned venues, including Edgbaston, Hampshire Bowl, Headingley, Old Trafford, The Oval, Bristol County Ground, and Lord’s.
The tournament will kick off with England facing Sri Lanka at Edgbaston on June 12. Defending champions New Zealand will start their title defense against the West Indies in Southampton on June 13.
Australia will also commence their journey against South Africa, the T20 World Cup 2024 finalists, on the same day in Manchester. A highly anticipated match between India and Pakistan is scheduled for June 14 at Edgbaston.
India's other significant matches include a game against South Africa on June 21 in Manchester and a clash with Australia on June 28 at Lord’s, known as the 'Home of Cricket.'
Pakistan will face South Africa on June 17 at Edgbaston and Australia on June 23 at Headingley. The final group-stage match for Australia will be against India.
In Group 2, England will play its matches across five venues, the highest for any team. Following the opening match, England will compete against the West Indies on June 24 at Lord’s and New Zealand on June 27 at The Oval. Sri Lanka will take on New Zealand on June 16 in Southampton and the West Indies on June 21 in Bristol.
The top two teams from each group will advance to the semi-finals on June 30 and July 2, with the final match to determine the champion taking place at Lord’s on July 5.
The last four teams for the group stage will be determined through global qualifiers set for early 2026. Teams such as Scotland, Bangladesh, the USA, Nepal, and Thailand have already secured their spots in the ten-team competition.
