Moqi, Sep 9: The defending champions, India, showcased their prowess by advancing to the semi-finals of the AHF Junior Asia Cup 2026 with a staggering 15-0 victory over Chinese Taipei in their final Pool A encounter on Wednesday.

Captain Anmol Ekka was the standout performer, netting six goals, all from penalty corners, as India transformed a scoreless first quarter into a commanding lead. This triumph secured India the top position in Pool A, accumulating 10 points from three wins and a draw.

South Korea secured the second semi-final spot from the group, finishing with nine points after narrowly defeating Japan 3-2. Japan, Indonesia, and Chinese Taipei have been eliminated from contention and will now participate in classification matches.

India controlled the game from the outset, creating numerous chances in the first 15 minutes but struggled to penetrate a well-organized Chinese Taipei defense. The breakthrough came in the 17th minute when Aryan Xess scored, followed by Prabhdeep Singh doubling the lead just a minute later.

Gursewak Singh extended the lead to 3-0 in the 22nd minute, and Ekka converted his first penalty corner three minutes later. Arjun Santosh Hargude added another goal in the 28th minute, with Ekka scoring again shortly after, leading to a 6-0 advantage at halftime.

The third quarter was dominated by India, with Ekka converting two early penalty corners to complete his hat-trick and then adding another to bring his total to four. Ajeet Yadav also scored in the 35th minute, and Ekka struck again in the 45th minute, pushing India's tally into double figures.

The final quarter saw no slowdown in India's momentum. Harpal scored in the 48th minute, and Ekka capped off his remarkable performance with his sixth goal from a penalty corner just three minutes later. Harpal added another goal soon after, while Aryan Xess finished the rout with his second goal, concluding the match at 15-0.

This result highlighted India's offensive capabilities and set-piece effectiveness, particularly after they found their rhythm following a goalless first quarter. The defending champions now enter the semi-finals with heightened confidence following a dominant pool stage finish.
