In a historic match at Lord's, India's Mixed Disability Team achieved a thrilling two-wicket victory over England in the third T20I. This landmark event not only celebrated the first international Disability match at the iconic venue but also coincided with the anniversary of India's 1983 World Cup win. With standout performances from bowlers Vivek Kumar and captain Ravindra Sante, India restricted England to 123 runs. India Triumphs in Groundbreaking T20I Match

London [UK], June 26: In a remarkable display of skill and determination, India's Mixed Disability Team clinched a thrilling two-wicket victory against England in the final over of the third T20I at Lord's Cricket Ground. This match marked a significant milestone as it was the first international Disability match held at this iconic venue.


The date and location of the match held special significance, coinciding with the 42nd anniversary of India's 1983 World Cup victory, led by the legendary Kapil Dev, at the same ground.


Ravi Chauhan, General Secretary of the Differently-Abled Cricket Council of India (DCCI), expressed pride in the team's achievement, stating, "We dedicate our historic win to the 1983 World Cup-winning team led by Kapil Dev."


In a show of respect, both teams donned black armbands to honor the late Dilip Doshi, a former Indian left-arm spinner who passed away recently in London.


Interestingly, June 25 is recognized as 'World Mixed Disability Day,' and this match was a highlight of the Cricket Disability Day, showcasing the first-ever clash between the mixed Disability teams of India and England at Lord's. The event was organized by the MCC, ECB, and Lord's Taverners.


After losing the first two matches in the series, India's Mixed Disability team now trails 2-1. The team, led by impressive bowling performances from Vivek Kumar (3 wickets for 16 runs) and captain Ravindra Sante (3 wickets for 8 runs), restricted England to 123 runs for 9 wickets in their 20 overs. A. Brown stood out for England, scoring a remarkable 77 runs off 47 balls.


Despite a strong fightback from England, India successfully chased down the target in the last over, with middle-order batsman Sai Akash emerging as the hero of the match with a score of 44.


The series continues with four more matches, the next scheduled for Friday in Worcester.
