Chinnaswamy Stadium, five franchises engaged in a competitive bidding process to form strong teams for the tournament starting on August 4th. A New Era for Women's Cricket in Karnataka

Bengaluru (Karnataka) [India], July 29: A significant milestone for women's cricket in Karnataka was achieved today with the first-ever Maharani Trophy KSCA T20 Auction, held at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium.


Five franchises—Bengaluru Blasters, Hubli Tigers, Mangaluru Dragons, Mysore Warriors, and Shivamogga Lioness—engaged in a competitive bidding process to form robust teams for the tournament, which is set to kick off on August 4th at the Alur Grounds. The championship match will take place on August 10th at the renowned M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, according to an official announcement.


Each franchise had a budget of Rs 10 lakh, allowing them to assemble a strong 16-member squad. The standout player of the auction was Niki Prasad from Bengaluru Blasters, who was acquired for Rs 3.70 lakh. Mysore Warriors secured Shubha Satheesh for Rs 3.10 lakh, while Mithila Vinod was signed by Shivamogga Lioness for Rs 3.00 lakh.


Bengaluru Blasters built their team around Niki Prasad's marquee signing, complemented by Aditi Rajesh (Rs 1.50 lakh) and Kandikuppa Kashvi (Rs 1.55 lakh). They also added Chandasi Krishnamurthy (Rs 70,000) and Pushpa Kiresur (Rs 40,000) to their roster.


Hubli Tigers invested Rs 1.50 lakh in BG Tejashwini and soon followed with the acquisition of experienced player Bhavika Reddy for Rs 1.10 lakh. They also brought in notable players Rajeshwari Gayakwad, Shreya Chavan, and Krishika Reddy for Rs 1.00 lakh each.


Mangaluru Dragons kicked off their auction with Liyanka Shetty for Rs 2.25 lakh, along with impactful signings like Prathyoosha Kumar (Rs 1.80 lakh) and Inchara CU (Rs 1.55 lakh). They rounded out their squad with Karnika Karthick (Rs 1.25 lakh) and Saloni P (Rs 85,000).


Mysore Warriors made headlines by acquiring Shubha Satheesh for Rs 3.10 lakh, one of the day's top purchases. They further enhanced their team with Prakruthi NG (Rs 1.20 lakh) and Pooja Kumari M (Rs 1.05 lakh), along with promising talents Sahana S Pawar (Rs 1.00 lakh) and Rachitha Hatwar (Rs 85,000).


Shivamogga Lioness fiercely competed for the marquee signing of Mithila Vinod at Rs 3.00 lakh. They also strengthened their lineup with Lavanya Chalana (Rs 1.45 lakh), Roshini Kiran (Rs 1.30 lakh), and Soumya Verma (Rs 1.05 lakh), while Srinithi P Rai completed their top signings at Rs 80,000.


With high-profile acquisitions and a balanced competition among the teams, the Maharani Trophy KSCA T20 is poised to offer an exhilarating inaugural season, highlighting the finest women's cricket talent in Karnataka.
