Overview of the Fast Bowling Camp

A total of twelve promising fast bowlers from the Caribbean will participate in a High-Performance Fast Bowling Assessment Camp scheduled from June 1 to June 11 at the Coolidge Cricket Ground in Antigua. This initiative is part of Cricket West Indies' (CWI) ongoing efforts to enhance player development and strengthen cricketing capabilities in the region.

Objectives of the Camp

The main goal of this program is to evaluate and identify the region's fast-bowling talent across both red-ball and white-ball formats. This will be achieved through structured challenges that assess speed, technique, skill execution, physical robustness, and problem-solving abilities.

Insights from the Coach

The camp will be spearheaded by Ottis Gibson, a former West Indies fast bowler and esteemed bowling coach, who has recently taken on the role of Fast Bowling Consultant. He will be joined by Jerome Taylor, another former West Indies fast bowler, who is recognized for his contributions to coaching within the CWI framework.

Gibson expressed his enthusiasm for the opportunity, stating, "I am thrilled to work with this new generation of fast bowlers. My primary aim is to unlock their potential, which will ultimately benefit West Indies cricket in the future."

He further noted, "I have been impressed by the talent I've encountered so far. Many players exhibit remarkable physical attributes, but they need the drive and determination to consistently bowl at high speeds."

CWI's Vision for the Future

Dwain Gill, the High Performance Manager at CWI, emphasized that this camp is a crucial step in enhancing the region's bowling depth and planning for future talent. He stated, "This camp is a vital part of our broader High-Performance strategy aimed at strengthening the fast bowling pipeline and ensuring we build depth across all formats of the game."

Gill added, "We aim to identify bowlers who possess the necessary technical skills, physical capabilities, tactical awareness, and mindset to compete internationally, while also providing them with targeted support to accelerate their development within the CWI system."

The High-Performance Fast Bowling Assessment Camp highlights CWI's commitment to nurturing a sustainable pipeline of elite fast bowlers who can excel in all formats at the international level.
