Player Registrations Open for Hero HIL 2027

The registration for players participating in the Hero Hockey India League (Hero HIL) 2027 Player Auction has officially begun. This process started on May 15, 2026, at 11:00 AM IST, with the auction set to occur in September 2026. Following the successful revival of the league during the 2024-25 season and the positive momentum from the 2025-26 edition, the upcoming season aims to enhance the competition further, as stated in a recent announcement. The Hero Hockey India League 2027 is scheduled for January 2027 and will continue to showcase top hockey talent from India and around the globe.

Eligible Nations for HIL 2027

The registration is open to both Indian and international players from some of the top hockey nations, reinforcing the league's position as a leading global platform for the sport. The eligible nations include:

League's Growing Appeal and Past Success

Since its return, the Hero Hockey India League has experienced significant growth, featuring eight men's and four women's franchises in the last season, which saw remarkable fan engagement. Over 1,000 players registered for the auction last season, including more than 500 Indian men, 350 Indian women, and over 240 international players across both categories, highlighting the league's expanding global appeal.

The previous season also showcased thrilling competition, with SG Pipers winning the Women's Hero Hockey India League 2026 title and Vedanta Kalinga Lancers taking the Men's championship.

Officials on League's Momentum

Dr. Dilip Tirkey, President of Hockey India and Chairperson of the Hero Hockey India League Governing Committee, commented on the announcement, stating, "The Hero Hockey India League has re-established itself as one of the most exciting platforms in world hockey. The enthusiasm witnessed during the revival seasons has been extremely encouraging, and the response from players across the globe reflects the league's growing stature. We are delighted to open player registrations for the 2027 edition and look forward to welcoming top talent from India and overseas. The Hero HIL continues to play an important role in providing players exposure at the highest level while strengthening India's hockey ecosystem."
