Haryana Triumphs at 24th National Para Athletic Championship

Haryana's para athletes delivered an impressive performance at the 24th National Para Athletic Championship, securing the overall trophy with a remarkable total of 90 medals. Key highlights included gold medals won by Pranav Surma in club throw and several others in javelin and track events. The state's Health Minister praised the athletes for their consistent talent. This championship, held in Odisha, showcased the dedication and skill of Haryana's para athletes, who had also triumphed in the previous year. Haryana's Remarkable Achievement

Haryana showcased an exceptional performance at the 24th National Para Athletic Championship, clinching the overall trophy.


The state's delegation comprised 144 members, including 121 athletes and 23 support staff. Team Manager Surender Singh and coach Jatin Bhati were present to guide the team. In total, Haryana secured an impressive haul of 90 medals, which included 29 gold, 36 silver, and 25 bronze.


Among the standout performers, international para athlete Pranav Surma excelled in the club throw, earning a gold medal. Other gold medalists included Navdeep, Rinku Hooda, and Sumit in javelin throw, while Dharmbir and Tekchand also triumphed in the club throw. Ankur Dhama shone in the 1500m race, securing gold. On the women's side, Pooja Yadav and Kanchan Lakhani earned medals in club throw and javelin throw, respectively, with Usha, Mafi, Bhuvi Agrawal, Dayawanti, Preeti, Pooja, and Laxmi also contributing to the medal tally.


Haryana's Health Minister and president of the Para Sports Association of Haryana, Arti Singh Rao, praised the team's efforts, highlighting the consistent talent displayed by the state's athletes across various sports. Notably, Haryana's para team had also emerged victorious in the previous year's championship.


The championship took place in Odisha, organized by the Paralympic Committee of India and the Para Sports Association of Odisha, from March 17 to March 21.
