Harmanpreet Kaur Achieves Milestone in WPL with 1000 Runs
Historic Achievement by Harmanpreet Kaur
Mumbai Indians' captain Harmanpreet Kaur has made history by becoming the second player to score 1000 runs in the Women's Premier League (WPL), following Nat Sciver-Brunt. She reached this milestone during a match against Gujarat Giants in Navi Mumbai on Tuesday, where she impressively scored 71 runs off just 43 balls.
Kaur's record-setting tenth half-century, along with significant partnerships with batters Amanjot Kaur and Nicola Carey, led the Mumbai Indians to a seven-wicket victory over Gujarat Giants at DY Patil Stadium.
Kaur's Record-Breaking Performance
Completing her tenth half-century in the WPL, Kaur now holds the record for the most half-centuries by any player in the tournament's history. She surpassed both Nat Sciver-Brunt and Meg Lanning, captains of UP Warriors, who each have nine half-centuries. To date, Kaur has amassed 1,016 runs in 30 matches and 29 innings, boasting an average of 46.18 and a strike rate of 146.18, which includes ten half-centuries.
Consistent Form Against Giants
Continuing her excellent form against the Giants, Kaur has scored 422 runs against them at an average of 84.4 and a strike rate of 176.56, including five half-centuries. She has also excelled in run chases during the WPL, accumulating 432 runs in just 12 innings at an impressive average of 72, featuring five half-centuries and a top score of 95.
Mumbai Indians' Dominance
With this victory, the Mumbai Indians have maintained a perfect record against Gujarat Giants, winning all eight matches they have played against them in WPL history. This achievement marks the only instance of a team having a 100% win record against a single opponent in the tournament's history. Following a loss to Royal Challengers Bangalore in their opening match, this marks Mumbai Indians' second consecutive win in the ongoing WPL 2026 season.
